Crankcase gasket and crankshaft seal removal

I'm trying to replace the front crankcase gasket and crankshaft seal on my '69 OHC6 250cid.

I'm not sure how to remove the crankshaft timing belt sprocket. The shop manual doesn't tell you to use a tool for the sprocket removal.

1) Should the sprocket be loose enough to tap off or do I need a special tool? I'm afraid of damaging the front crankcase cover by loosening with pry bar.

2) Do I need to drop the oil pan to remove the front crankcase...

I recently had my ST 300 transmission rebuilt. The builder pointed out that my tranni has " variable-pitch" and that he only found 1 wire (the one that goes to the overdrive). So he could not hook up the variable-pitch. I am presently pulling my Sprint motor for a rebuild(another story)and drop in another motor for the time being.. I just purchased a clutch pakage and looking to replace the flywheel with a new one.. It's not out there... Is the 69 Sprint clutch a 10.4 or an 11 inch clutch? The fly wheel that I have for an auto is 166 teeth is the standard flywheel 166 teeth also ?.. I was just trying to save time while the guys are here for the swap by finding a new fly wheel.. Has anyone gone thru this...

rattling six

i would like to no any info on the valve train on this engine, i have owned this car for some time . it has 57195 miles on the engine and it has set for most of its life . the car runs good but there is some rattling coming from the valve cover. this car does not smoke and has great oil pressure, i thought about changing the motor because i have many pontiac v8s but i would really like to leave the engine in the car. i would also appreciate any info on assembly on this engine[a breakdown...

My 67 sprint isn't running right and I need to find somone who knows this engine near Sacramento --the foothills outside Placerville actually.
Runs ok but just not any power--Just done with full off body restore --should have had engine done during that-but didn't. Call if possible--530 626-3503 in Garden Valley or cell 916 216 4655-sometimes works in hills.--Thanks Kerry

I'm trying to determine what rearend I got with my convertible rolling chassis. I've been on a few sites and gotten some info, but I'm also finding conflicting information.

After much wire brushing on the axle tube, I finally found the diff code. But it was on the front facing side of the axle tube, not the rear as shown in my chassis manual. The code is "WC", which I found to be 2.73, and was more or less specific to the 1 barrel OHC6. Problem is, I...

I was out the other day cruisin the bird around and it started POURING rain, my wipers were toast!! I looked all over the place looking for the refills for the old stainless steel trico wipers and nobody had them...........except Napa auto parts !! 6.95 per pair, I thought I was outta luck and was gonna have to switch to the new style wipers which would just not do!! go to NAPA, they got'em and they're only 6.95 a pair!!

Interior colour

I'm researching my current project, a '66 sprint. It needs a complete interior restoration. I cannot find the code 220 turquoise interior on any of the repro interior sites. Although companies like Legendary and PUI have other real Pontiac colours, like parchment, they only have "dark aqua" instead of turquoise.
Has anyone restored a turquoise interior? Is it the same as the "dark aqua" sold by these companies? I know that there is a company out there...

I have a base 68 OHC Firebird, just starting the teardown for restoration and I plan on changing it over to a Sprint. I have a mix of Sprint parts, trying to go for a correct look but not getting anal about matching numbers up.
Between my base 250 which is complete and running I have a 250 Sprint in pieces that needs a lot, I have no carb, breather, accesory drives or anything other than the alternator on my base (no option car)
I plan on adding PS and vintage air, the VA guy told...

Convertible rear seat reproduction or repair

Does anyone know if there is a company that sells a restored or repro rear seat for my convertible (66 tempest)? I've seen them for firebirds but no one seems to have them for the A-body. These seats wear out and rust quicker than a hardtop. Any help would be appreciated.

hood tach with rally gauges

I'm switching to rally guages and discovered that the hood tach is available. Therefore, my question is: what do the rally gauges look like in a factory car with the hood tach? With no tach in the instument panel, is it the gas and battery to the left of the speedo, with oil and water on the immediate right? I have the clock and to keep it with the hood tach and rally guages would seem to me to be the ultimate setup.

I can't read the date code but the casting # is 8782111 is the 67 or 68?
