I recently had my ST 300 transmission rebuilt. The builder pointed out that my tranni has " variable-pitch" and that he only found 1 wire (the one
that goes to the overdrive). So he could not hook up the variable-pitch. When I got the car home on Friday my 4th trip back to the builder, I found a 2 wire
"sliding switch" on the gas pedal (yes I will be calling the builder on Monday informing him that if he would of stuck fat old butt under the dash he
would of seen the switch just like when I stuck my fat old butt under the dash). I assume that's the switch is the variable-pitch switch. Now I'm going
to test the switch, trace the wire, or run a new one to the variable-pitch on the tranni. I guess I'm going need to find out what the end that connects to
the tranni looks like, and if I can get one if I can't trace the wire back.
Ok, here the questions: Is it true that two style ST 300 were used one with variable-pitch and one without? Does anyone know which one was used in a 1966 Lemans? Should I try to hook it up? Did the Sprint line of cars use the ST300 with variable-pitch?
All this is going on while my shifter cable is broken, At this point I think the builder broke it and is not taking responsibility. The cable was comming apart, that's why my car was rolling out of park after the rebuild too much play in the cable, but now it's broke. We jerry rigged it so I could get the car home and replace the cable myself. The build cost $1.400, and I still have to replace the shifter cable.
