The engine you are looking at is at 9.0 to 1 stock if it is a 250 with a 250 1 bbl head and has not been rebuilt. (the heads can be interchanged easily, so check the casting numbers!) If you build this motor you will most likely need to deck the block and mill the head a bit. This will raise the compression slightly if you use stock height pistons and stock head gasket. Most after market pistons are a bit down in the hole, so this lowers the compression. The current Felpro head gasket is thicker than stock, so this lowers it a bit also. With this: You are in the ballpark. It really depends how you build it and with what parts and how much boost and timing control you have. I believe a carefully built 250 1bbl can be built and run as you want. There were no forged cranks available that I am aware of. You could possibly use a 63? Chevy crank if you were building a 230. I believe I read somewhere that they were forged that year. I do not think a forged crank is necessary with all of reinforcement in the bottom of the Cammer block. (I am going to use a stock crank when I do a boosted motor)
